Dance in the Garden
A fundraiser for Kinetic Studio
Halifax NS

This weekend, on Sunday, July 10, 2005 from 1:00—5:00 PM, Kinetic Studio brings together gardens, art, and the art of gardening in Dance in the Garden. It's an unforgettable garden tour that offers glimpses of inspired gardening together with original dance and music performances inspired by these settings of urban serenity.

In this unique fundraiser for Kinetic Studio, one of the province's premier presenters of contemporary dance, a who's-who of performers have created works of dance and music to complement a garden setting: Maral Perk and Megan Matheson of El Viento Flamenco, Sarah Diquinzio and Lisa Phinney, the Verve Mwendo ensemble, Sally Morgan, harpist Ellen Gibling, and Susan Cook and dancers, Christina Findlay, Jenna MacKinnon, Andrea Stout, and Amanda Stafford will all present their dance choreographies and music compositions during the Dance in the Garden tour.

The settings for these unique works of art are eight exceptional metro gardens crafted by gardeners, inspired by the art of the flower. They range from the small and intimate to the layered and expansive; from the formal and elaborate to the whimsical and eccentric — all of them lovingly crafted by their owners to create islands of tranquility and inspiration within the metro city-scape.

Dance in the Garden takes place on Sunday, July 10th, 2005 from 1:00—5:00 PM (rain date is July 17th). Tickets are $12 and can be obtained from Dance Nova Scotia, 1113 Marginal Road in Halifax or by calling (902) 422-1749. A map of the gardens and schedule of performances is included with the tickets.
